wake, beat, bake
Hello!!! I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying the warm weather! For this week's post, I'm going to be doing a review on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in the shade Princess Cut. I received this highlighter in the mail a few weeks ago, and I've definitely used it enough to review it now. Hope y'all enjoy! Okay, so first off the skin frost retails for $29.00 on jeffreestarcosmetics.com and promises to be a unique highlighter with a soft, buttery formula. It claims to be vegan, cruelty-free, talc free, paraben free, and gluten-free, as well as saying that "a little goes a long way." This skin frost shade is absolutely stunning in person, however the texture of it when I swatched it did not live up to it's claim of being soft and buttery. When swatching it, instead of being met with a soothing, smooth feeling, I was met with a gritty texture that was somewhat painful to swatch. The highlighter gave off pigment when I did the swatch, but it didn't impress me like I thought it was going to. In terms of actually using it on my face, it was very subtle when first applying, but by applying a more than generous amount you could definitely tell it was on my face. I'm not really one of those people that likes to have to dip into a product multiple times; I like things to work the first time or I get extremely frustrated. However, I will say that if you enjoy buildable products or a soft glow on the cheekbones, then this product is for you. Also, even though the swatch was gritty, it doesn't show up gritty on your face. I actually find myself reaching more for this product more than my holy grail Jaclyn Hill X Becca Champagne Pop highlighter on a daily basis just because I am paler right now due to the winter. (definite run-on sentence, whoops :P) So I suppose this highlighter could be my fall/winter shade. I tried to use the skin frost with the Becca highlighter, and it made me glow all the way up to Jesus, his momma, and all of heaven, but if you aren't a highlighter junkie like me than obviously don't try this. :) Overall, I enjoy using this product; the only flaws would be the gritty texture and my personal preference of not liking buildable highlighters. My Rating: 9.5/10 Hope y'all enjoyed! Mwah! -Shan :)
