Hey!
So I've never done a review on my monthly subscription to the website Ipsy. Basically, Ipsy is a makeup company that will send you a "glam bag" every month with a bunch of make up goodies and samples. I started receiving mine in December, and I started my subscription in November as a birthday gift from my aunt. I wanted to do a review on the December glam bag, but I totally spaced and didn't write one, so I decided to do one for my January glam bag instead. First off, the glam bag from January was a silvery-blue bag with little holes on the whole thing. I like the bag, but I have a few problems with the products I received inside my glam bag. Pretty Woman Nail Polish in I'm Not A Ballerina: Overall, I really liked this product, it didn't go on patchy, and I could have only done one coat and been okay. Rating: 4/5 Smashbox Cosmetics Camera Ready BB Cream: This product really frustrated me. The texture was ideal for what a BB cream is supposed to be, however the shade I was given was too dark for my skin tone, and it had a yellow undertone when I have a pinky-peach undertone to my skin. It was frustrating because I really couldn't test this product out on my face since the shade was wrong, and I didn't want to walk around all day looking like a bad lemon or something. Rating: 3/5 Lasting Smiles Lip Balm in Passionfruit Mango: Not gonna lie, I haven't even touched this since I received it; mostly because the scent really bothered me. I'm very sensitive to sweet smelling things; they tend to give me headaches and nausea, so I typically steer away from them. I probably will never use this product just based on it's smell. Rating: 2/5 Pacifica Blushious in Wildrose: This blush is absolutely gorgeous. It is completely versatile, and the shade is absolutely stunning. I think the shade is really nice for most skin tones, and when I swatched it, the color payoff was pretty good. Although I haven't used this yet on my skin, I think I'm really going to like it. Rating: 4/5 Manna Kadar Cosmetics Fantasy 3-in-1 Eyeshadow: This eyeshadow is absolutely gorgeous. The color pay off on the swatch was opaque and made me excited to try and use it. Rating: 5/5 Overall, this glam bag didn't disappoint me, but it definitely didn't impress me. I was hoping for more things that I like to use considering that they make you take a quiz on your preferences and skin type and tone, etc. However, I am still hopeful for February's glam bag. My rating of this bag as a whole will be below! Hope y'all enjoyed! Rating: 3/5 Mwah! Shan :) Wow, long time, no post. Today I'm going to do a review of the Benefit Rollerlash Mascara, enjoy! First off, the Benefit Rollerlash Mascara is retailed in Sephora, Ulta, etc. for $24.00. It promises a curve-setting formula that lasts up to 12 hours on the lashes and contains provitamins such as B5 and serin, which are ingredients that are known to condition eyelashes well. The mascara claims to provide a satin finish, is water-resistant, and is easy to remove. On the packaging, it states that 87% of users said that it gave a long-lasting curl. The mascara is available in two different shades: black and brown, and has won the Allure Best of Beauty Award for the Best Everyday Mascara in 2015 & 2016. In my opinion this product is everything a makeup lover could want in a mascara and more. The applicator is slim, but flexible, making it easy to apply multiple layers without the mascara getting clumpy. It separates lashes really well, and I have definitely noticed a difference in the curliness of my lashes that appears to last pretty long. This product was given to me as a gift, and I would definitely repurchase it; I think the Allure award was appropriately given to this mascara because it really does work well as a day to day mascara. I would recommend this mascara to beginners because the flimsy applicator would make it easier to apply, but also to just any make-up lovers because it works with any look. My Rating: 10/10 Hope y'all enjoyed the review! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey babes!
So I realized yesterday that I never did my October favorites, and it's not too late to do them! I will be figuring out a way to post a makeup look next week, whether it's an actual video tutorial or just a picture with a written explanation of the products used is to be determined, but I'm so excited to show you guys a look! Okay, without further ado, my October favorites! :) Foundation- Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: $6.29 Eyeshadow Palette- Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette: $49.00 Eyeliner- Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner: $7.19 Eyelash Curler- ELF Eyelash Curler: $3.00 Mascara- Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara: $6-7 Highlighter- Becca x Jaclyn Hill Highlight in Champagne Pop: $38.00 Lipstick- L'Oréal Lipstick in Zoe's Red: $5.99 Setting Spray- Urban Decay De-slick Oil Control Setting Spray: $31.00 I definitely didn't have as many favorites this month, but I just got some new makeup, so maybe those will be my new favorites next month. I tried to pick a variety of things that were "drugstore" and "high-end" products for you guys, so hopefully that works. Thanksgiving Break is next week so I will have some time to play around with some new looks. I'm not too sure what day I will be posting the makeup look I'm going to create, so I'll keep y'all updated! Hope everyone has a great rest of their week! Mwah! Shan :) Hey babes!
I feel like I haven't posted in forever, and I know I'm constantly posting reviews, but I'm going to try and post a makeup look over my Thanksgiving Break, which is in like two weeks. Today, I thought I would just do a quick review of the Maybelline Master Fix Setting Spray. I've been using this setting spray for quite awhile now, and over time, I have grown less and less impressed with it... but first some details on it... The Maybelline Master Fix setting spray retails for around $8.59 at Target, which is where I typically buy my "drugstore" makeup. It promises to be a translucent, light-weight, and oil-free setting spray that will keep your makeup's pigmentation in tact and prevent your makeup from melting. This is the first setting spray I ever used besides an ELF one that my older sister gave to me. Because of this, it worked really well for me, being a first time user of setting spray and all, but since then I have used other better quality setting sprays that have made me realize a few things about this one. First off, the duration of time that I think this one lasts is a lot shorter than other ones I've used. Don't get me wrong this one lasts a pretty decent time before makeup starts dripping off my face, but it's not long enough for the extensive days I have. Also, what a setting spray is supposed to do is make all the powdery, cakey looking makeup look more flawless and smooth; this setting spray doesn't do this... at least not all the time. There have been times where I have used it, and it works great, but lately I've noticed that it doesn't take the cakey look off my face, and for me that is an issue. I don't think this setting spray is a complete waste; I just think there is room for improvement in its formula, and it could definitely last longer. I would only recommend this to people who wear very minimal makeup on a daily basis. Other than that, personally I won't be using this setting spray anymore unless I am in dire need of it. I hope y'all enjoyed the review! I'm going to try and post again next week! Have a great weekend! :P Mwah! -Shan :) Hey babes!
Sorry for no hoco look, I ran short on time, and I figure since hoco season is basically over, there's no reason for me to post a hoco look, but expect my birthday makeup to come up very very soon! So for this week's post, I'm going to be doing a review of the oh so raved about Becca/ Jaclyn Hill Highlighter in Champagne Pop. Personally, I bought mine from sephora, and it retails there for $38.00. The color is claimed to be a soft white gold with a pinky peach undertone. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. The packaging stays true to Becca's typical sleek gray and silver color, as well as providing a mirror inside the compact. We all know this product to be raved about constantly in the makeup world, so of course I had to give it a try. From my experience using it, I have truly fallen in love with it. Although it is a bit pricy, I think the quality of the product makes the price totally worth it. As far as color pay off, I think it stays true to it's claim of having pinky peach undertones because you can definitely see it in sunlight. Another thing I have noticed is that out of all the highlighters I have ever worn, this is the only one that people really noticed. One thing I don't like about this product, though, is that once you put it on your face, it almost seems that the little specks of glitter in it spread around on your face. Personally, I don't really like to have a bunch of glitter all around my face, but if you enjoy that totally go for it, lol! Other than that, this highlighter is probably one of my new holy grail highlighters, and I would 10/10 recommend getting it. Have a great weekend! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey babes! So with September being over, I thought it was time to tell you my favorite products from this month! I'm going to include the prices of these products, so you can decide whether or not you think it is worth your money. I'm super excited that it's October because that means hoco season is here! For next weeks post, I was thinking about posting a simple last minute hoco look, so stay tuned for that! Alright, without further ado, my September favorites. :)
Foundation: Maybelline Dream Liquid Foundation- $9.99 Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer- $9.99 Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Powder: $3-$4 Eyebrows: NYX Microbrow Pencil in Brunette- $10.00 Cream Eyeshadow: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze- $6.99 each Eyeshadow Palette: Morphe 35K Palette- $22.99 Eyeliner: NYX Matte Liquid Liner- $7.00 Mascara: Too Faced Waterproof Better than Sex Mascara- $23.00 Highlighter: Physicians Formula Mineral Glow- $8.99 These products all really spoke to me because most of them are pretty affordable and the quality is definitely there. Some of them are actually a few of my holy grail products, but I figured I should include them since y'all don't really know my absolute favorite products yet. I'll be posting again sometime next week with a simple hoco look, so stay tuned! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey babes!
It's Wednesday! With half of the week done, I thought I would post an extra post this week just for a little something special. Today's post will be five things about me just so you aren't coming to this blog totally confused about who exactly I am. So yeah, without further hesitation, here's five things about me! Enjoy! 1. My birthday is November 4th; that's were my love for fall makeup comes from. 2. I am on my schools colorguard team; with that comes more opportunity to wear makeup. 3. I am a sophomore in high school; two years 'til graduation, yessss. :P 4. My best friends name is Lily; we share the same love for makeup and talk about it literally non-stop. 5. I have traveled to NYC, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, and pretty much everywhere on the east coast. Hope everyone is having a great day! Come back for another post on Friday! Mwah! -Shan Hey babes! So today i wanted to post a little review on the Too Faced Waterproof Better than Sex Masacara. It retails for $23.00, as well promises 1944 % more volume in your lashes! 97% of people saw more intense volume in their lashes & 94% of people say that it lasted all day for them! I put these claims to the test, and since it is a waterproof mascara, i tested how it lasts in water also. One unique quality of this mascara is that it has a hourglass shaped brush. In my opinion, i think as of right now this mascara is one of my holy grail mascaras. It definitely puts more volume in your lashes, and the claim of it lasting all day reigns to be pretty true. As for testing the product in water, well to put it simply, this stuff doesn't budge at all! Through the shower, nope it won't come off; i even tested it while i was at a water park, and it lasted all day long, y'all. If thats not a good mascara, then i don't know what is. Also, I find that the hourglass shaped brush really gets a lot of volume into my lashes, but it doesn't make it overly clumpy, which I absolutely love. Though I see very few issues with this mascara, one of the things I'm not entirely fond of is that after it gets wet, it sort of creates these pesky little black flakes that are extremely hard to get our of your lashes unless you use a makeup wipe or cleanser. Other than that, I absolutely love this mascara, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a long lasting mascara that can be a little tricky to get off. Fall is almost here, & we all know what that means! Time to break out those vampy red lips and brown smokey eye looks. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, if not my favorite (because my birthday, lol). All throughout fall I will be posting some fall inspired tutorials, my favorite fall products, and so much more!
Tip: Red lipsticks can be incredibly hard to work with, and in seasons such as fall and winter, it's all about the red, so when applying your lipstick, use a lipliner first so you get a cleaner line! Mwah! -Shan :) |
Tip of the WeekUse a sponge and then a brush to blend out your foundation to make sure it is blended to perfection. Recommendation of the WeekMaybelline The Colossal Big Shot Mascara: $5.89
