Makeup and Munchies
wake, beat, bake
Hello!!!
For many of us, routines take place everyday. From the time we wake up until the time we go to sleep, we are in a routine. When to eat, when to brush our teeth, when to take a shower are just a few of the things that people work into their daily lives and do on a consistent basis. One thing about routines is that they are different for everyone; one person may prefer to shower in the mornings, while another person may prefer to shower at night. Through all of these typical routine steps, skincare should one hundred percent be a part of everyones: no matter if they are a boy or a girl. The skin is one of the most delicate things on the human body, without it our muscles and bones would be exposed to all the germs and bacteria in our world. In terms of the skin on the face, we must take care of it if we don't want breakouts and tons of acne. Following the steps of skincare are a vital aspect in keeping your skin healthy. 1. Cleanser: use one that won't dry your skin out too much and will get out all the grit and grime from the day; if you wear makeup, take it off before this step because you don't want the makeup products to mix in with all the good stuff that helps get rid of the dirt and oil buildup on your face; this step is very important because it prevents facial pores from getting built-up with dirt and oil. 2. Toner: unfortunately most people tend to skip this step of their skincare routines because toner has a negative connotation attached to it, that it irritates the skin and can cause dry patches; however, this is simply not the case. toner is important because it acts as a delivery system for antioxidants, vitamin B derivatives, and even toning acids. be sure to use a toner that is specific to your skin type so breakouts don't occur. 3. Spot Treatment: spot treatments are used for those pesky breakouts that you can't seem to get rid of. they don't necessarily have to be apart of your everyday routine since breakouts don't typically happen every single day. they are useful because they dry up excess oil and kill bacteria in your problem spots. to ensure that the spot treatment is working, wait about five minutes after putting it on so a different product doesn't knock off the benefits of the medication from your face. 4. Serum: serum provides the very much needed vitamin c that the skin does not produce on its own. it aids in reducing fine lines and prevents wrinkles from forming in the skin. in addition, it provides an extra boost of UV ray protection. it is better to put on a serum that is thin so it doesn't clog your pores and cause more issues. if there isn't one serum that is specific to your skin needs, then apply the thinnest one first and apply upwards from there. 5. Eye Cream: eye cream should be applied every single day, if not twice a day, starting in one's early twenties. it helps in maintaining the health and thickness of the eyelid skin, which ensures that the eyelid skin doesn't lose it's laxity and its smooth appearance later on in life. choosing an eye cream with SPF or any sun protection has proven more successful than any regular eye cream without SPF. 6. Moisturizer/ Face Oil: With all of the products you just put on your face, your skin is going to be inherently dry. Moisturizer is meant to be put on before bed because moisturizer helps the skin to repair, restore, and regenerate as we sleep. This is why creams are generally thicker and heavier; they are meant to absorb over the course of many hours, which if you don't want to feel it on your face throughout the day, putting it on at night will be your best bet. Even if you have oily skin, using a moisturizer is still extremely important. For oily skin people, the moisturizer is supposed to create a protective coating on the skin to block out the harsh outside conditions and infections. Just remember to keep in mind that no matter your skin type, moisturizing is so so so important. I hope that y'all found this little skincare rant helpful because I am a strong believer in the importance of taking care of your skin. Have a great weekend!! Mwah! -Shannon :)
