Hello!!!
So some of you may know that I am a part of my school's colorguard team, and one of our requirements is that we must wear makeup at Friday night football games and competitions. This year, I will admit that I went a little overboard with the amount of money I spent on these products, however so far the performance of most of them have been pretty good. I will more than likely do a review on some, if not all of these products, but for now I'm just going to tell you what I use and how much the products cost. Hi!!
So for most of us makeup lovers may know, Ulta and Sephora are two of the biggest makeup carriers in the world. You can find so many products at both stores, but Ulta offers more to the makeup world than Sephora does. Ulta Beauty, founded in 1990 by Richard E. George, offers so much more variety in products than Sephora does. Although Ulta offers less high-end makeup brands than Sephora, they also sell "drugstore products" which makes their company way more open to those on a strict budget. I know that most teenagers cannot afford to buy high-end makeup and a lot of parents are not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on products that their sons and daughters may want. Because Ulta offers drugstore brands like Maybelline, Revlon, etc. it creates a diversity in the people that shop at their stores. Although both companies offer hair products and bathing products, it just seems to me like Ulta has a wider variety of options in terms of their hair goods. In terms of the set-up of their stores, all of the Ulta Beauty Stores that I have shopped at are so much bigger than Sephora and also a lot more clean. The display cases with the makeup at Sephora always appear dirty to me, and they are never cleaned properly or replaced by new palettes. Although this does happen at Ulta, they clean their display cases way more often than Sephora does. Overall, I just think Ulta keeps its doors open to all people, whereas, Sephora seems to be closed off and only for people who can afford high-end makeup. I hope this helps you choose where to shop for your makeup!! I mean nowadays, you could just use the internet but like.... who wants to wait for shipping? Lol, have a great weekend y'all! Mwah! -Shan :) Today we know trendy eyebrows to be thick and full, but eyebrows didn't always look like that. The most dramatic change to the eyebrow trends changed in the 20th century, and it seemed like every decade has its own eyebrow style. For today's post, I wanted to just share this picture of the history of eyebrows to remind us all where the start of eyebrows was compared to where it is now. We have come so far as a makeup community, but sometimes it is nice to remember where we started.
Hello everyone!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and got a chance to relax. I'm super excited to start posting again soon!! Hopefully this school year I will be able to get up some actual makeup tutorials or at least type some out for you. My makeup style has definitely changed from last school year to now, and I want to eventually share that with you all! I'm also thinking about writing how my makeup journey began and how it has grown since I started. I'm hoping to post something next week, but of course with me there are no guarantees! Have a great friday! Mwah! -Shan :) Hello!!!
I hope everyone is doing well! For this week's post, I'm going to go over a few products I regret buying and tell you why I regret buying them. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bon Palette: It's not that this palette is necessarily bad, but compared to other palettes that I own, it's not the best. The pigmentation is not consistent in all the shades, and when using them on the eyes, they are extremely patchy and require me to go over the same area a handful of times. Also, when swatching them, they are extremely chalky feeling. Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation: This foundation did absolutely nothing for me. No matter how hard I tried to blend it out nicely, it was cakey and made my face feel oily, which is strange because I have a pretty normal/combination skin type. Also, not to mention the smell of this foundation was honestly one of the worst smells I have ever experienced. ELF Blending Brushes: These brushes definitely did the job, but compared to other brushes that I have recently been using from Morphe and BH Cosmetics, they aren't nearly as good. Also, the brushes fall apart after like washing them three times, so the quality of the brushes isn't exactly there either. I hope this was helpful in y'all picking some of your makeup products that you want to try! Just because some of these products don't work for me doesn't mean they won't work for you. I hope you enjoyed! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey!
Since April is almost over, it's time to do my monthly favorites! The following are products that I have completely fallen head over heels in love with and use on daily/ weekly basis! I highly recommend all of these products to y'all to try! Enjoy! Concealer: Urban Decay NAKED Skin: $28.00 Eyeliner: Physician's Formula Eyebooster: $10.95 Single Eyeshadow: Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Rainbow: unfortunately not available anymore :( sorry loves Mascara: Benefit They're Real!: $24.00 Mascara: Benefit Rollerlash: $24.00 Highlighter: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in Princess Cut: $29.00 Brush: Morphe 510 (for highlighting) Hope y'all have a great rest of your week! Mwah! -Shan :) Hello!!! I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying the warm weather! For this week's post, I'm going to be doing a review on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Skin Frost in the shade Princess Cut. I received this highlighter in the mail a few weeks ago, and I've definitely used it enough to review it now. Hope y'all enjoy! Okay, so first off the skin frost retails for $29.00 on jeffreestarcosmetics.com and promises to be a unique highlighter with a soft, buttery formula. It claims to be vegan, cruelty-free, talc free, paraben free, and gluten-free, as well as saying that "a little goes a long way." This skin frost shade is absolutely stunning in person, however the texture of it when I swatched it did not live up to it's claim of being soft and buttery. When swatching it, instead of being met with a soothing, smooth feeling, I was met with a gritty texture that was somewhat painful to swatch. The highlighter gave off pigment when I did the swatch, but it didn't impress me like I thought it was going to. In terms of actually using it on my face, it was very subtle when first applying, but by applying a more than generous amount you could definitely tell it was on my face. I'm not really one of those people that likes to have to dip into a product multiple times; I like things to work the first time or I get extremely frustrated. However, I will say that if you enjoy buildable products or a soft glow on the cheekbones, then this product is for you. Also, even though the swatch was gritty, it doesn't show up gritty on your face. I actually find myself reaching more for this product more than my holy grail Jaclyn Hill X Becca Champagne Pop highlighter on a daily basis just because I am paler right now due to the winter. (definite run-on sentence, whoops :P) So I suppose this highlighter could be my fall/winter shade. I tried to use the skin frost with the Becca highlighter, and it made me glow all the way up to Jesus, his momma, and all of heaven, but if you aren't a highlighter junkie like me than obviously don't try this. :) Overall, I enjoy using this product; the only flaws would be the gritty texture and my personal preference of not liking buildable highlighters. My Rating: 9.5/10 Hope y'all enjoyed! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey!
For today's post I'm going to be doing a review on the Kylie Cosmetics Royal Peach Palette. The palette retails for $45.00 and comes with twelve shadows and one medium sized blending brush. As far as the packaging of this product, I think Kylie and her team were spot on. It feels like a high-quality eyeshadow palette based on its weight, and the fact that it comes with a HUGE mirror on the inside makes it that much better. The medium-sized blending brush, while handy at distributing product throughout your crease, provided me with nothing but discomfort due to the bristles of the brush being extremely rough. On the other hand, the quality of the eyeshadows themselves differs from that of the packaging. The matte shades have amazing pigment when swatching them on your arm, as well as on the lid and through the crease area. The shimmer shades were extremely difficult to apply with a brush, and the pigment was there on the arm swatches, but once it hit my lids, poof, it was gone. To even get the shimmer shadows to show on my lids, I had to use my finger to apply it. For me personally, it is not ideal to be applying eyeshadows to my lids with my finger every single time I do my makeup. This palette is diverse in terms of the colors it provides, but other than that, it really doesn't have much going for it. I enjoy the quality of the matte shades, and I continue to use them from time to time, but it definitely has not replaced my favorite everyday Morphe palette. My Rating: 6/10 Hope y'all enjoyed the review! -Shan :) Hey!
So I haven't done a favorites blog post in a while, so I figured I should probably update y'all on my recent favorite beauty products. Powder: Maybelline Fit Me! in Translucent- $5.99 Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Pomade in Medium Brown- $18.00 Eyeshadow Palette: Morphe X Kathleen Lights Palette-(unfortunately it's not being sold anymore, but I still pretty much use it on a weekly basis) Eyeliner: Physician's Formula Eyebooster in Ultra Black- $10.95 Mascara: Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! in Jet Black- $24.00 I know this post was super short, and I have more favorites, but I will probably end up putting them in my March favorites post. I'm thinking about making these monthly favorites posts a regular thing, so stay tuned for that! Hope y'all enjoyed this short post, have a great weekend! Mwah! -Shan :) Hey! For today's blog post I'm going to be doing a review on the Morphe X Kathleen Lights Eyeshadow Palette. Enjoy! First off, the palette retailed for $22.99, a fair price for the amount of eyeshadows you receive. The palette offers an array of different colors, ranging from pink tones to neutrals, and can be used to make a dramatic smokey eye or even just a simple "no makeup- makeup look. It even offers an intense and unique green shadow that expresses Kathleen Lights personality being incorporated into the palette. True to Morphe's shadows, the expectation of buttery, easily blended shadows was expected when using the palette, and the palette did not disappoint. I find the shadows easy to blend and easy to apply. The mattes are incredibly pigminted, and the shimmers are not patchy at all. My only complaint about this palette is that the shimmer shadows do have a pretty decent amount of fallout, but to me, if the worst an eyeshadow palette has is fallout, but it still has good pigmintation then I still think it's worth having. Unfortunately, Morphe has stopped selling this product, so you all can't get your hands on it, but if Morphe does begin selling it again, I will definitely update this post on that. Overall, I really enjoy using this palette, and it has quickly become my everyday makeup palette. I have almost hit pan on one of my favorite shimmers which just shows how much I enjoy using it. My Rating: 9/10 Hope y'all enjoyed the review! Mwah! -Shan :) |
